Chapter 023: Charity (Vizhiyappan's Translation)

பால்: 1 - அறம்; இயல்: 02 - இல்லறவியல்;  அதிகாரம்: 023 - ஈகை
Division: 1 - Ethics; Section: 02 - Family Ethics; Chapter: 023 - Charity

0221.  வறியார்க்கொன்று ஈவதே ஈகைமற் றெல்லாம்
           குறியெதிர்ப்பை நீர துடைத்து

           Charity is giving those couldn't payback;
           others are expectations based

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The real charity is giving to those could not payback;
           other acts are just filled with the expectations.

           The real forgiveness is given to those who could not oppose and hit back; other acts
           are full of fear.

0222.  நல்லாறு எனினும் கொளல்தீது மேலுலகம்
           இல்லெனினும் ஈதலே நன்று

           Getting is evil, albeit good moral; giving is
           good, albeit no heaven

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Getting from others is evil, albeit it is a good moral;
           giving is good, albeit it do not lead to heaven.

           Dictatorship is cowardly, albeit conquering the world;  non-violence is heroism, albeit
           not conquering a village.

0223.  இலனென்னும் எவ்வம் உரையாமை ஈதல்
           குலனுடையான் கண்ணே யுள

           People from disciplined family, have quality
           to give, despite paucity

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Those who born in disciplined family will have the
           quality to give the needy, without disclosing their state of not having sufficient.

           Those who love their self will have the certainty to love the relationships, without
           doing the sin of backbiting.

0224.  இன்னாது இரக்கப் படுதல் இரந்தவர்
           இன்முகங் காணும் அளவு

           Regretting without giving, continues until
           seeing the requester’s smile

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Until giving the requested and seeing the smiling face of
           the requester, regretting for the requester will continue in the meantime of not giving.

           Until debating the happened and getting the verdict of conscience, grieving for
           happened will continue in the gap of not debating.

0225.  ஆற்றுவார் ஆற்றல் பசிஆற்றல் அப்பசியை
           மாற்றுவார் ஆற்றலின் பின்

           Strength of those who control hunger,
           is behind those convert it

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The strength of saints who control the hunger, is only
           behind the strength of those who convert that hunger of poor by giving food.
(Likewise...)
           The verdict of judges who establish the acts, is only behind those who solves the
           problems of common-man by oral.

0226.  அற்றார் அழிபசி தீர்த்தல் அஃதொருவன்
           பெற்றான் பொருள்வைப் புழி

           Solving poor's deadly hunger is the way
           to store one's wealth

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Solving the deadly hunger of poor people, is the
           determinate way of storing the wealth earned by us.

           Eliminating the haunting doubt of who believed, is the best discipline of maintaining
           the ethics learnt by us.

0227.  பாத்தூண் மரீஇ யவனைப் பசியென்னும்
           தீப்பிணி தீண்டல் அரிது

           Deadly malady called hunger will rarely
           burden those share food

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: It is rare that the deadly malady called huger, will
           burden those who practice ethics and eat by sharing the food.

           It is rare that the mental disease called arrogance, will destroy those who has ability
           to teach by understanding what they learnt.

0228.  ஈத்துவக்கும் இன்பம் அறியார்கொல் தாமுடைமை
           வைத்திழக்கும் வன்க ணவர்

           Are the unkind who lose possessions,
           not realize "bliss of giving"?

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Are the unkind people, who save & lose their
           possessions by thinking it as theirs, not realize the bliss obtained by giving?

           Are the racists, who live & lose their life by thinking it as prestige, not feel the
           excellence reached with humane?

0229.  இரத்தலின் இன்னாது மன்ற நிரப்பிய 
           தாமே தமியர் உணல்

          Eating those filled the granary, alone,
           is cruel than begging

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Eating those filled in the granary, alone themselves, is
           more grievous than begging with others.
(Likewise...)
           Hiding those stagnated at deep mind, within themselves, is more dangerous than
           enmity of others.

0230.  சாதலின் இன்னாத தில்லை இனிததூஉம்
           ஈதல் இயையாக் கடை

           Nothing is tragic than dying; it's also
           pleasure when couldn't give

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: There is nothing more tragic than dying! But, death is
           also a pleasure when one could not give those who crave for.
(Likewise...)
           There is nothing more cowardly than suicide! However, suicide is also a heroism
           when one could not excuse those who have surrendered.
