Chapter 026: Refusal of Meat (Vizhiyappan's Translation)

0251.  தன்னூன் பெருக்கற்குத் தான்பிறிது ஊனுண்பான்
           எங்ஙனம் ஆளும் அருள்

           How those eat other lives, to grow stronger,
           could practice grace?

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: How come those who eat the flesh of other lives, to
           keep their physique stronger, could practice the grace?

           How come those who seize the assets of public, to excessively enhance the assets
           of their children, could realize the democracy?

0252.  பொருளாட்சி போற்றாதார்க்கு இல்லை அருளாட்சி
           ஆங்கில்லை ஊன்தின் பவர்க்கு

           Who unprotect things, can’t experience them; similarly,
           who eat meat can’t experience grace

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Those who do not protect their belongings, cannot
           experience them! Similarly, those who eat meat cannot experience the grace!

           Those who do not search their self, cannot realize themselves! Comparably, those
           who forgot sincerity cannot realize the ethics.

0253.  படைகொண்டார் நெஞ்சம்போல் நன்னூக்காது ஒன்றன்
           உடல்சுவை உண்டார் மனம்

           Who taste meat, wouldn't think ethics, like
           those have destruction weapons

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Mind of those who taste the flesh of another life, would
           not think of good ethics, like the heart of those who have destruction weapons.

(Likewise...)

           Friendship of those who feel happy by seizing other’s wealth, would not seed
           humane, like those who have evil habits that lead to degradation.

0254.  அருளல்ல தியாதெனிற் கொல்லாமை கோறல்
           பொருளல்ல தவ்வூன் தினல்

           Unethical is abandoning "Not killing"; meaningless
           is eating such flesh

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: What is called unethical is abandoning the philosophy
           of "not killing"! And what is meaningless is such flesh of a killed live!

           What is called improper is forgetting the virtue of "not stealing"! And what is inhuman
           is enjoying such stolen stuff!

0255.  உண்ணாமை உள்ளது உயிர்நிலை ஊனுண்ண
           அண்ணாத்தல் செய்யாது அளறு

           Not eating meat is stability of lives;
           hell won't eject those eat

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The stability of lives exist in the ethics of not eating the
           meat; if the lives eat meat, hell will not open the door and send them out.

(Likewise...)

           The solidity of communism exist in the integrity of not oppressing the vulnerable; if
           they oppress the vulnerable, society will not feel voluntary and support them.

0256.  தினற்பொருட்டால் கொல்லாது உலகெனின் யாரும்
           விலைப்பொருட்டால் ஊன்றருவா ரில்

           If people don't kill for eating, none
           will sell meat for price

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: If people do not kill lives for the sake of meat, there will
           be none to sell meat for the sake of economic growth.

           If public do not violate rules for the sake of greedy, there will be no officers to violate
           rule for the sake of bribe.

0257.  உண்ணாமை வேண்டும் புலாஅல் பிறிதொன்றன்
           புண்ணது உணர்வார்ப் பெறின்

           Shouldn’t eat meat, if one understood it
           as wound of other lives

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: If one have the understanding that the meat is nothing
           but the flesh from the wound of other lives, they should be not eating meat.

(Likewise...)

           If one have the feeling that the bribe is nothing but the money resulted from the
           sweat of fellow man, they should be not getting bribe.

0258.  செயிரின் தலைப்பிரிந்த காட்சியார் உண்ணார்
           உயிரின் தலைப்பிரிந்த ஊன்

           Intellectuals who have detached crimes, won’t eat
           the body detached from head

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The intelligent people who have detached the crimes by
           realizing their origin, would not eat the body that is detached from the head of a
           creature.

           The noble people who have abandoned the distrust by analyzing its origin, would not
           examine the privacy of someone who is abandoned from the relationship.

0259.  அவிசொரிந் தாயிரம் வேட்டலின் ஒன்றன்
           உயிர்செகுத் துண்ணாமை நன்று

           Not killing a life & eating it, is better
           than doing thousand Yagnas

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Not killing a life and eating it’s body, is better than doing
           thousands of Yagnas by pouring various kinds of fuels.

           Not deceiving someone and seizing their belongings, is wealthier than earning
           millions of money through variety of unethical activities.

0260.  கொல்லான் புலாலை மறுத்தானைக் கைகூப்பி
           எல்லா உயிருந் தொழும்

           Living-beings will conventionally worship those
           who don't kill & refuse meat

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: All living-beings will conventionally worship those who
           do not kill a life, and who refuse to eat the meat of killed lives.

           All the public will voluntarily wish those who do not deceive people, and who deny to
           support the reign of those deceivers.
