Chapter 013: Possession of Humility (Vizhiyappan's Translation)

பால்: 1 - அறம்; இயல்: 02 - இல்லறவியல்;  அதிகாரம்: 013 - அடக்கமுடைமை

0121.  அடக்கம் அமரருள் உய்க்கும் அடங்காமை
           ஆரிருள் உய்த்து விடும்

           Humility places us in heaven; incontinence
           will place in darkness

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Possession of humility will place us in the world of God
           (heaven); whereas, being incontinent will place us in the world of darkness.

           Being truthful will place us amidst the ocean of happiness; whereas, being untruthful
           will place us amidst enormous hardships.

0122.  காக்க பொருளா அடக்கத்தை ஆக்கம்
           அதனினூஉங் கில்லை உயிர்க்கு

           People should preserve humility as it 
           is the "ultimate wealth"

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: There is nothing on par to humility, which gives the
           ultimate wealth; hence, people should preserve humility as wealth.

           There is nothing equal to having no debt, which gives the extreme comfort; so,
           people should realize that having no debt is the comfort.

0123.  செறிவறிந்து சீர்மை பயக்கும் அறிவறிந்து
           ஆற்றின் அடங்கப் பெறின்

           Possessing rational and humility, will be
           recognized & reward distinction

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The ability to be rational and possessing humility, will be
           recognized and those people will be rewarded with distinction.

           Analyzing the relations and having strong bonding, will strengthen the relationship
           and make those people very special.

0124.  நிலையின் திரியாது அடங்கியான் தோற்றம்
           மலையினும் மாணப் பெரிது

           Aspect of who are humble & decisive,
           is larger than mountain

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The aspect of those who are humble and are decisive in
           their stance, is larger than the great mountain.

           The effect of those who reigned without conflicting the rules, is deeper than the
           ocean.

0125.  எல்லார்க்கும் நன்றாம் பணிதல் அவருள்ளும் 
           செல்வர்க்கே செல்வம் தகைத்து

           Humility is good for everyone; additionally,
           a wealth to wealthy

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Possessing the humility is good for everyone;
           additionally, it is an added  wealth to the people who are already wealthy.

           Being unselfish is good for the public welfare; further, it enhances the discipline of
           people who are already disciplined.

0126.  ஒருமையுள் ஆமைபோல் ஐந்தடக்கல் ஆற்றின் 
           எழுமையும் ஏமாப் புடைத்து

           Restraining our "five-senses", like turtle,
           protects us all births

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: If we can restrain five-senses of our body, like tortoise,
           in one birth; it will protect us in all of our births.

           If we can integrate all five-elements of nature, like the fingers of hand, at one point; it
           will help guarding the nature forever.

0127.  யாகாவா ராயினும் நாகாக்க காவாக்கால்
           சோகாப்பர் சொல்லிழுக்குப் பட்டு

           At least, tongue should be restrained;
           else, hardships will surround

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: We may fail to restrain anything, but we should at least
           restrain tongue; otherwise, erroneous words will lead us to hardships.

           We may fail to practice anything, but we should at least practice integrity; otherwise,
           misconduct will deteriorate the life.

0128.  ஒன்றானுந் தீச்சொல் பொருட்பயன் உண்டாயின்
           நன்றாகா தாகி விடும்

           Single "evil-word" could spoil the
           rest of words spoken

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: If one single-word, among the many spoken, could
           induce the evil; rest of words too become evil.

           If one black-spot, in the entire white paper, could scatter the vision; rest of white
           paper too become invisible.

0129.  தீயினாற் சுட்டபுண் உள்ளாறும் ஆறாதே
           நாவினாற் சுட்ட வடு

           Body wounded by fire heals; not the
           mind wounded by words

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The scar induced on body, following the wound by fire,
           can be healed; but the pain induced in people, following the evil words, cannot be
           healed.

           The relations, separated by whacking, will forget the fracture in the bones; but the
           relations, separated by altercation, will not forget the fracture in mind.

0130.  கதங்காத்துக் கற்றடங்கல் ஆற்றுவான் செவ்வி
           அறம்பார்க்கும் ஆற்றின் நுழைந்து

           Ethics await for those who are
           calm, educated & humble

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Ethics will await, for the best time, to reach the people -
           who restrain anger, learn education and be humble.

           Death will wait, for the complacency of the people - who realize love, develop
           humanity and live accordingly.
