மண்ணோடு இயைந்த மரத்தனையர் கண்ணோடு
இயைந்துகண் ஓடா தவர்

Who don't show clemency by matching the eye,
are like trees matching the soil

Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Those who do not live with the clemency called humane, by knowing the nature of eye; are equivalent to the tree that do not grow by matching the nature of soil.

Those who do not live with the progeny called relationship, by realizing the duty of generation; are equal to the animal that do not grow by realizing the duty of birth.
