Chapter 031: Not Getting Angry (Vizhiyappan's Translation)

0301.  செல்லிடத்துக் காப்பான் சினங்காப்பான் அல்லிடத்துக்
           காக்கின்என் காவாக்கா லென்

           Should control anger where it works; what if
           controlled or not where it backfires

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Those who control the anger where they have authority,
           are who actually control the anger; what if the anger is controlled or not where there
           is no authority.

           Giving the food to those who are hurt by hunger, is actually the food-donation; what
           if the food is given or not to those who are not hungry.

0302.  செல்லா இடத்துச் சினந்தீது செல்லிடத்தும்
           இல்அதனின் தீய பிற

           Inapplicable anger is evil; even if applicable,
           nothing is evil than it

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The anger that is shown where it is inapplicable, is evil;
           even where it is applicable, nothing is more evil than the anger itself.

           The repression conducted in an unfairly manner, is destructible; even if it is
           conducted in a fairly manner, nothing is more destructible than the repression itself.

0303.  மறத்தல் வெகுளியை யார்மாட்டும் தீய
           பிறத்தல் அதனான் வரும்

           Forget the anger with anyone, as
           evil emerges from anger

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Getting angry leads to evil as aftermath; hence, it is
           best to forget to get angry with anyone.

           Getting loan leads to excess depression as output; so, it is excellent to live without
           getting loan for anything.

0304.  நகையும் உவகையும் கொல்லும் சினத்தின்
           பகையும் உளவோ பிற

           Is there stronger enmity than anger,
           to kill smile & content?

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Is there any other enmity that is stronger than anger, to
           kill the smile on face and the content at heart?

           Is there any other extremist that is mightier than racism, to seed the partition in
           thought and the maneuver in action?

0305.  தன்னைத்தான் காக்கின் சினங்காக்க காவாக்கால்
           தன்னையே கொல்லுஞ் சினம்

           Protect anger to protect oneself; if unprotected, 
           anger will kill themselves

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: If we are willing to protect ourselves, we should protect
           the anger; if it is not protected so, the anger itself will kill us.

           If we are intending to value ourselves, we should eliminate the privacy; if it is not
           eliminated so, the privacy itself will degrade our value.

0306.  சினமென்னும் சேர்ந்தாரைக் கொல்லி இனமென்னும்
           ஏமப் புணையைச் சுடும்

           Anger, which kill the accompanied, will
           destroy the beloved neighbors

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The anger, which destroy the accompanied, like fire; will
           just not destroy us but also our well-wishing neighbors.

           The illicit-relationship, which rupture the acquainted, like drug; will just not rupture
           the activities but also the mind that guard our self.

0307.  சினத்தைப் பொருளென்று கொண்டவன் கேடு
           நிலத்தறைந்தான் கைபிழையா தற்று

           Decay of who value anger, is unavoidable
           like pain of who hit land

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: The decay of those who handles anger by considering it
           as matter, is unavoidable like the hand-pain of those who hit the land.

           The fall of those who follows money by thinking it as treasure, is unstoppable like the
           mental-pain of those who separate the relationship.

0308.  இணர்எரி தோய்வன்ன இன்னா செயினும்
           புணரின் வெகுளாமை நன்று

           Even “dropping in fire” like evil is done,
           better not getting angry

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: It is better to not getting angry with someone, who has
           done an evil that is equivalent to dropping us in a huge fire.

           It is better to socialize without enmity with someone, who has given a mental-pain
           that is on par to stab with a "poison-dipped" sharp spear.

0309.  உள்ளிய தெல்லாம் உடனெய்தும் உள்ளத்தால்
           உள்ளான் வெகுளி எனின்

           If one don't get angry at mind, all
           thoughts are achieved soon

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: If one could be without getting angry even at mind, all
           their thoughts will be achieved soon after thinking.

           If one could write without erring ethics even in comedy, all their creations will be
           immediately appreciated.

0310.  இறந்தார் இறந்தார் அனையர் சினத்தைத்
           துறந்தார் துறந்தார் துணை

           Who have exorbitant anger are dead; who
           renounced it are saints

           Vizhiyappan's Commentary: Who cross the limit of anger are considered dead;
           whereas, who have renounced the anger are on par to monks those are excellent in
           penance.

           Crossing the definition of lust is equivalent to rape; surpassing the lust is on par to
           good deed that seed the ethics.
